Standards of Business Conduct & Ethics

Members and sponsors of the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce strive to recognize, promote, and improve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer business community. To that end, they agree to be bound by these Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Recognizing that affiliation with the Chamber is a privilege, all members and sponsors accept the responsibility to understand and commit to the following code of conduct and ethics.

    • Conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness with respect to customers, clients, and employees alike.
    • Be accessible and accountable to customers or clients, and make every reasonable effort to act with the customer's or client's best interest and benefit in mind.
    • Not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression or socioeconomic status.
    • Refrain from engaging in any practices prohibited by law or seeking unfair advantage over fellow members.
    • Be responsible at all times for truthful and non-deceptive advertising and promotion regarding the business and its products and/or services.
    • Not use or condone advertising which is untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging or competitors, or which contains insincere offers to sell, nor advertising which, as a whole, may be misleading or result in misrepresentation by direct statement, inference or omission.
    • Conduct business with strict adherence to the laws of Texas and to the business of professional codes existent for the particular business or profession and in accordance with generally accepted business practices.
    • Refrain from publicly disparaging the business practices of fellow members and refrain from condoning or engaging in misrepresentation or unethical practices.
    • Support the ideals and goals of the organization, as well as support the LGBTQ+ community in general, in a constructive and positive manner. Refrain from engaging in or sponsoring activities that publicly oppose or undermine the rights, dignity, or equality of the LGBTQ+ community.
    • Abide by the Mission Statement and bylaws of the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce.
    • Understand, support, and promote the mission of the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce and cooperate with fellow members in the application of this Code of Conduct & Ethics. This includes ensuring that both members and sponsors align with these standards and do not engage in or support actions contrary to the interests of the LGBTQ+ community.
    • Whenever reasonably possible, participate in the functions and activities of the Chamber, and promote the enhancement of business growth in and around the greater Houston region.

Failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, as outlined above and defined in the Chamber Bylaws, can result in the termination of membership or sponsorship.
